Northerly winds of 20–30 km/h will develop today for Winnipeg, but will ease tonight and shift to light southeasterlies on Tuesday.
Temperatures will be warm across southern Manitoba through the first half of the week.
A warmer air mass pushing into the region will bring overnight lows up from the low teens tonight to the upper teens tomorrow night. Wednesday will see highs climb into the low 30s with a moderate southerly wind of 30–40 km/h. A cold front will push eastwards into the province through the day, bringing a few clouds to the region and a slight chance of thunderstorms.
Long Range Outlook
Cooler weather will building to the region through the second half of the week with near-seasonal values by Friday and Saturday. A few showers are possible on Friday, then the next chance for rain appears to be Sunday when another disturbance moves through the province.

A low pressure system lifting through the province this morning will bring more unsettled weather to the Red River Valley. This system produced widespread thunderstorm activity over Montana and southern Saskatchewan yesterday that continued through the night and moved into southern Manitoba. The remnants of that nocturnal convection will move over the Red River Valley this morning, bringing a good chance of showers or thunderstorms to Winnipeg through the morning hours. Once this initial line passes, some sunny breaks should develop for the afternoon hours.
A band of showers and thunderstorms is forecast to move across the Red River Valley early Friday morning.
Winds will be breezy out of the southeast through the morning near 30 gusting 50 km/h. Once the line passes, they’ll shift southerly and strengthen to 40 gusting 60 km/h for the afternoon. Temperatures will reach a high around 21 °C today then head to a low near 14 °C tonight with clearing skies. Winds will stay out of the southwest overnight as they ease to around 30 km/h.
On Saturday, the upper-level pattern will change as a broad ridge begins building over western Canada. This will bring sunny skies to Winnipeg for the weekend with highs climbing into the upper 20s. Westerly winds will continue on Saturday at around 30 km/h, then ease on Saturday night. The winds will stay light on Sunday as a high pressure system moves into the province.

A sharp upper-level trough will dig over the western seaboard with an upper ridge over the eastern Prairies developing in response. Skies will stay mainly sunny as a warm front begins lifting towards Canada through the Northern Plains. Winnipeg will see light northeasterly flow ahead of the warm front through the day as temperatures head to a high near 30 °C.
Showers and thunderstorms will develop in the United States on Tuesday night and spread across southern Manitoba by Wednesday morning.
On Tuesday night, a low pressure system lifting out of Montana will support a strengthening flow overrunning the warm front. The combination of lift and destabilization will produce thunderstorms over the northern Plains that will push across southeastern Saskatchewan and southern Manitoba into Wednesday. There will be enough instability and organization in the environment for the risk of severe thunderstorms. The primary threats overnight would be hail and wind. There is also a chance that the thunderstorms may organize into a squall line. If they did so, it could bring damaging winds to portions of southeastern Saskatchewan and/or southern Manitoba overnight.
Temperatures will head to a low near 18 °C on Tuesday night.
Humid conditions will spread across southern Manitoba on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the warm front will lift northwards into southern Manitoba. This will combine with an upper level disturbance moving into the region to support scattered showers and/or thunderstorms. The cloud cover will keep temperatures cooler than Tuesday, but it will become substantially more humid. Although the high will be around 26 °C, dew points will climb into the 18–20 °C range and make it feel closer to the low 30s. The unsettled weather will push off to the northeast for Wednesday night with a low near 17 °C.
Long Range Outlook
The warm and humid weather will stick around for the rest of the work week with highs in the mid-20s and dew points hovering in the upper teens. The sun should return for Thursday afternoon, then another passing low will bring a chance showers and thunderstorms to the region on Friday. A cold front will sweep through after that, ushering in drier conditions for the weekend. Temperatures will stay warm into next week with highs in the 25–30 °C range.
