Summer Heat with Plenty of Sunshine

Seasonably warm weather is on tap for Winnipeg through the rest of the week. The city will see plenty of sunshine until cloudier conditions arrive on Friday.

Today will bring almost a repeat of yesterday too Winnipeg. The city will see a sunny start to the day give way to partly cloudy skies midday. Temperatures will be warm again with a high near 28°C with westerly winds up to around 20 km/h. There will be a chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon, but it’s very slight. Almost all the activity today will occur along a trough of low pressure through the Interlake into western Manitoba. That said, keep an eye out just in case a rouge cell develops this afternoon. Skies will clear this evening as temperatures dip back to a low near 13°C.

Thursday will bring beautiful summer conditions to the city as a ridge of high pressure moves through. Temperatures will climb to a high near 29°C under partly cloudy skies. Winds won’t be an issue either as the ridge keeps them light out of the north. Skies will remain partly cloudy on Thursday night with a low near 14°C.

Friday’s forecast has some uncertainty as it’s largely dependent on the evolution of a convective system on Thursday night. Right now, it looks like an area of thunderstorms will collapse near the Saskatchewan border on Friday morning. The clouds associated with this system will drift eastwards, spreading into the Red River Valley midday. Once they arrive, Winnipeg will see mixed to cloudy skies with temperatures climbing to a high near 26°C. The city will see mixed skies on Friday night with temperatures dropping to a low near 15°C.

If the convection develops differently on Thursday night and the city doesn’t see as much cloud as expected, temperatures will be warmer and could reach as high as 29 or 30°C.

Long Range Outlook

Winnipeg will see variable cloudiness this weekend with a chance for showers or thunderstorms with the best chance on Saturday night into Sunday morning. It will be a hot weekend, too, with daytime highs in the low 30s and overnight lows in the upper teens.

Today’s seasonal daytime high in Winnipeg is 25°C while the seasonal overnight low is 12°C.

Cooler, Cloudier Weekend Ahead for Winnipeg

Winnipeg will see a warm end to the work week give way to slightly cooler, cloudier conditions for the weekend.

Winnipeg will see great summer weather today. A weak ridge of high pressure over the region will keep skies mainly sunny and winds light. The city will see temperatures climb to a high near 25°C with northerly winds near 20 km/h through the afternoon. Cloud cover will move in overnight as a disturbance approaches from the northwest. The city should see a low near 11°C.

Saturday and Sunday will both bring mostly cloudy conditions to Winnipeg with high temperatures near 20°C and lows near 10°C. The rain associated with the disturbance moving through will fall mainly over southwest Manitoba, but a few showers might creep into the Red River Valley. Either way, it looks fairly dry for Winnipeg right through the weekend.

Long Range Outlook

Next week will kick off with seasonal conditions and variable cloudiness in Winnipeg. By mid-week, though, a marked change in the weather pattern is forecast that will bring unsettled conditions to the region. Through the second half of the work week, multiple rounds of showers and/or thunderstorms look possible, perhaps giving some needed rain to parts of the region.

Today’s seasonal daytime high in Winnipeg is 23°C while the seasonal overnight low is 11°C.

Seasonal Conditions Return

Winnipeg will continue to see pleasant weather through the second half of the week. A few showers are possible Thursday afternoon into Friday morning as a weak low pressure system moves through the region.

A ridge of high pressure over the region today will ensure that Winnipeg sees mainly sunny skies through the day. Temperatures will continue at slightly below-seasonal values with a high near 19°C. The lack of wind and ample sunshine should help it still feel rather nice outside, though. Winds will remain light tonight with temperatures dipping to a low near 8°C under clear skies.

Thursday will start off sunny, but a weak warm front moving into the region in the afternoon will bring more cloud and a chance of showers. Winds will pick up out of the south-south-west into the 20 to 30 km/h range, pushing temperatures temperatures to a seasonal high near 23°C. A low pressure system will move through the region overnight, keeping cloudy skies with a chance of showers around through the night. Temperatures should dip to a low near 11°C with light winds.

Friday should start off with a few showers exiting the region, then a bit more sun returning. Temperatures will climb to a high again near 23°C with a northerly wind near 20 km/h. Winnipeg will likely see partly cloudy skies on Friday night with a low near 10°C.

Long Range Outlook

The weekend should bring Winnipeg near-seasonal temperatures and variable cloudiness. Winnipeg won’t likely see any significant chances of rain until sometime early next week. Forecasts show a more unsettled pattern developing over the region, bringing slightly warmer temperatures alongside plenty of cloud and a chance of precipitation.

Today’s seasonal daytime high in Winnipeg is 23°C while the seasonal overnight low is 10°C.

Seasonably Cool Weather Ahead

A northwesterly flow aloft will bring seasonably cool temperatures and variable cloudiness to Winnipeg this week.

There won’t be too much of a change in the weather over the next few days as cooler conditions settle in behind the blast furnace the city saw on Friday. Temperatures over the next three days will be consistent with highs near 20°C and lows of 5 to 10°C.

Both today and Wednesday will bring just a few clouds to the city, but Tuesday will bring more cloud as a shortwave moves through. A few showers or perhaps even an isolated thundershower will move into the Red River Valley on Tuesday afternoon, but might stay west and south of the city.

Winds will also be fairly consistent over the next few days. Winds will increase out of the northwest or north into the 20 to 30 km/h range each day and diminish at night.

Long Range Outlook

The rest of the work week will bring more of the same to Winnipeg with highs continuing in the low 20s and variable cloudiness. Temperatures will warm up slightly for the weekend, but no major changes are forecast.

Today’s seasonal daytime high in Winnipeg is 23°C while the seasonal overnight low is 10°C.
