Cooler Weather Ahead

A much cooler air mass building across the Prairies in the wake of yesterday’s Colorado Low will push across southern Manitoba today.

Winnipeg will see breezy westerly winds near 30 gusting 50 km/h today that will usher in cooler temperatures. As the day goes on, skies will cloud over and temperatures will dip to around -4 °C by the evening. Skies will stay on the cloudier side tonight as the wind drops off and temperatures head to a low near -9 °C.

On Tuesday, Winnipeg will see some sunny breaks as temperatures climb back to a high near -4 °C. The cloud cover should clear out by evening leaving Winnipeg with just a few clouds overnight and a low near -13 °C.

A cooler air mass in Manitoba will send overnight lows into the -10 to -20 °C range on Tuesday night.

A weak disturbance will move towards the region on Wednesday, pushing cloud back into the Red River Valley. Temperatures will climb to a high near -1 °C. The city will see a chance of light snow heading into Wednesday night, but no notable accumulations are expected. Temperatures will head to a low near -11 °C.

Long Range Outlook

Cooler weather will stick around for Thursday and Friday as another Arctic ridge moves across the region. Some lake-effect snow will be possible on Thursday in the wake of the disturbance moving through. Some milder weather is possible on the weekend with highs potentially climbing back above the freezing mark.

Today’s seasonal daytime high in Winnipeg is 1 °C while the seasonal overnight low is -7 °C.
