Warm End To The Work Week Gives Way to Unsettled Saturday

After a warm end to the week, Winnipeg will see mixed skies and cooler weather for the weekend.

Temperatures will climb into the upper 20s in Winnipeg today as a seasonably warm air mass moves through the region. Under mainly sunny skies and with light winds, Winnipeg will see a high near 28°C this afternoon. A trough of low pressure will move through overnight bringing mixed skies and a mild low near 16°C.

A cold front will move through early Saturday morning and usher in west-northwest winds of 20 to 30 km/h. Behind the front, skies will stay mostly cloudy for the rest of the day. A secondary disturbance moving across North Dakota will bring a chance of showers on Saturday afternoon as an area of rain extends northwards and moves across the Red River Valley into the Whiteshell. All these things together will result in seasonably cool temperatures with a high near 22°C. Skies will clear and the wind will ease on Saturday evening as temperatures head to a low near 10°C.

A disturbance moving through the region on Saturday may spread showers into the Red River Valley in the afternoon.

Sunday will bring a return to normal temperatures with a high near 25°C. As it warms up, southwesterly winds of 20 to 30 km/h will develop alongside mixed skies. After a pleasant afternoon, winds will ease and skies will gradually clear as temperatures head to a low near 14°C on Sunday night.

Long Range Outlook

The beginning of next week looks to start with a fair amount of sunshine and near-seasonal temperatures. Some forecast models show the potential for showers both Monday and Tuesday nights, but confidence is low right now.

Today’s seasonal daytime high in Winnipeg is 25°C while the seasonal overnight low is 12°C.

Pleasant Summer Weather Ahead

Winnipeg will see a stretch of pleasant summer weather through the second half of the work week.

Seasonably warm weather will be in place for Winnipeg over the next few days with highs near or above average. Starting with a high near 25°C today, temperatures will slowly climb into the upper 20’s for the end of the week. Overnight lows start at a near-seasonal 13°C tonight and then increase into the mid-teens for the rest of the week.

Of the next few days, Winnipeg will see variable cloudiness with mainly sunny to mixed skies. As far as chances for rain, the days look good but both tonight and Thursday night bring chances of light showers moving through as weak disturbances ripple across the region. On Friday, a cold front will sweep across the Red River Valley through the evening, bringing a more organized chance of showers with it.

Winds will be light over the next couple days, generally picking up out of the west to southwest into the 15 to 25 km/h range during the day. On Friday, winds may end up on the lower end of that range out of the southwest.

So all in all, a bit of a mixed bag, but with much of the cloud and shower chances relegated to the nights it will be fairly pleasant set of days! No humid conditions are in the forecast.

Long Range Outlook

Cloudier conditions will move in behind the cold front on Saturday along with cooler temperatures with highs in the low 20s. After that, it looks like a return to seasonal temperatures with generally sunny conditions and comfortable humidity.

Today’s seasonal daytime high in Winnipeg is 25°C while the seasonal overnight low is 12°C.

Sunny Friday Leads Into An Unsettled Start To The Weekend

Seasonal warmth returns for a beautiful Friday before cloudier conditions arrive this weekend.

Temperatures will return to seasonal values today in Winnipeg as the cooler weather of the last couple days shifts off to the east. A warm front will work its way across the region today, sending temperatures towards a high near 27° in Winnipeg. Winds will stay light out of the south with mainly sunny skies, making for a beautiful summer day.

Skies will become more mixed this evening with a light southerly wind. Temperatures will be much warmer that the last couple nights with a low near 15°C.

On Saturday, a cold front slowly slumping southeastwards will thicken up the cloud cover over the city. Temperatures should still be fairly warm with a high near 25°C. As the front passes through midday, it will bring a chance of showers to the region that will persist into the evening hours. Winds will be light before the front passes, then pick up out of the north into the 20 to 30 km/h range midday. The chance of thunderstorms looks low and it’s unlikely that there will be any widespread rain accumulations

The wind will ease in the evening with mixed to mostly cloudy skies continuing through the night. Winnipeg will see a low near 13°C.

There’s a bit of forecast divergence for Sunday, particularly with how much sun the region will have. It looks most likely that Winnipeg will see mainly cloudy skies for much of the day, however if things end up a tad south the city could see more along the lines of mixed skies. A light northerly wind will keep temperatures on the cooler side again with a high near 23°C.

More cloud will move in on Sunday night with a low near 13°C again.

Long Range Outlook

Early indications are that next week will kick off with rather unsettled conditions as a low pressure system moves across North Dakota. Rain with the risk of thunderstorms will be possible Monday into Monday night for much of southern Manitoba. After that system passes, the region will likely see another couple days of cooler weather before seasonal conditions return.

Today’s seasonal daytime high in Winnipeg is 26°C while the seasonal overnight low is 13°C.

Cool Spell Leads Into Seasonable Weekend

Winnipeg will see seasonably cool conditions over the next couple days, but summer warmth returns for the weekend.

On Thursday, the high pressure system will continue to slowly push eastwards into the province. The city will see mainly sunny skies with northwesterly winds once again near 30 gusting 50 km/h. Winds will ease in the evening as the high pressure system moves into southern Manitoba. Temperatures will dip to a low near 9°C under clear skies.

On Friday, a light southerly return flow will develop as the high exits the region. This will allow warmer temperatures to build back into the region; Winnipeg will see highs climb back up into the upper 20s, likely around 28°C. The city will continue to see plenty of sun, but a few clouds will likely be in place across the region. Temperatures will head to a low near 16°C on Friday night under partly cloudy skies.
